i purchased this zune for two reasons. one i hate itunes and second i am not to fond of the ipod scroll wheel. i now realise i should have bought an ipod.
THE BAD
three dsays after i purchased the zune i let it charge overnight in a cold room. the battery got hot and the room was cold so the glass cracked straight down the screen. it was just a perfect straight crack down the glass, no spidering so i figured i could live with it.
a few days later my zune battery died with half a charge left. i tried to turn it back on but it would just blink dead battery. this does not happen everytime but it will happen ocasionaly. i tried to get a replacment but because the glass was cracked the warrenty was no good. this is within the first week.
the crack from before has started to spread.
There are so many cheap accesories out there for the ipod. the zune has almost nothing in retail stores, to get anything you have to go to ebay and spend and arm and a leg.
All this would b acceptable accept for this last issue. as of now i can no longer sync (connect) my zune to the computer. i have been trying desprately for over a week now doing everything i can to connect but i have not had any luck. it simply charges my zune when i try. compleately out of no where it decides not to connect, it was working fine a week ago. this means the music i have on there is there forever and i cant put any new music on it. i still have 100gb left and my zune is a little less than 6 months old.
THE GOOD
The zune software is FAR superior to the ipods (itunes). if you can get it to work. it is much simpiler and way more fun to use.
The back of the zune wont scrach like crazy likes the shinny ipod will. it stays looking newer longer, as long as the very thin glass covering the screen does not crack.
The screen is larger and better for not just movies but scroling through music and custom backgrounds.
It has a radio option but unless you live in a big city or within three miles of the radio tower you wont pick up anything.
wireless sync. i bet its cool but i could never get it to work.
the zune pad is much better than the ipod scroll wheel. you have the option to scroll or click and it is just easier to use.
IN CONCLUSION if my zune was more dependable and worked the way it was supose to work it would b a clear better choice than the ipod but sadly it is trash. garbage. im goiing to save for another year and buy an ipod. and i would sugest you do the same. the internet is full of people having the same problems as me.
